- mind-altering 100% energy-saving devices There is enough energy coming out the sky to meet all your needs. Throughout human evolution it has always been so. In the UK, average profligate households annually burn up 25,000 kiloWatt hours of energy. Exactly this amount falls out of the sky onto an area 5 metres by 5 metres. Since most of the energy requirement in a building is a thermal input to moderate internal temperatures, a bare solar collecting deck area of 5 x 5 m is a good start. You need to transfer the energy from the deck to where you want it inside. The kiloWatts outside dont know what temperature you want inside, so although a building is good at passively altering the internal climate, a heat pump will allow you to actively control the temperature of any external (free) kiloWatts you collect. Start with an asphalt deck (or driveway), then just as with Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP) you can boost your energy collecting capability - except with a deck you avoid the need for any boreholes .(Planning permission could not be easier.) Use water cooling and storage, preferably integrated with underfloor heating, then like a fridge, you can selectively alter the temperature up and down. Compressor type heat pumps are difficult to size correctly and can mean a large capital outlay. We can advise on a plan to get the benefits of heat pumps in stages, as funds allow, to move your house Towards Zero Energy without any burning. Think before you burn this article, or coal or gas or oil, or anything - you might increase global warming unnecessarily when a thermal mass at 27 degrees could do most things in your building........... Currently - you need decking. Solar is zero carbon ......... tel. 0207 207 3555 | ||||
